Continuous Learning Essential for Journalists- Mojeed Musikiliu

In a bid to raise professional standards in the media industry, the Daily Trust Foundation has unveiled the DTF Journalism Academy designed to develop reporters’ digital competencies, reinforce ethical practices and support fact-based reporting. The official launch of the Academy took place on Tuesday, 27 October 2026, at the Media Trust premises, Abuja.

Delivering the keynote address, Musikilu Mojeed, Editor-in-Chief of Premium Times, stressed that continuous learning is essential for journalists seeking to navigate an increasingly complex information environment. Mojeed said journalism must go beyond reporting information to establishing facts, explaining their significance and helping the public make informed decisions.

He warned that experience alone does not guarantee competence, noting that journalists must continually update their knowledge, refine ethical judgment and develop new skills to keep pace with technological and societal changes. He also emphasized the importance of verification, evidence-based reporting and editorial independence.
