Daily Trust Foundation, MDIF, Organize Webinar on Audience Engagement

The Daily Trust Foundation, in collaboration with the Media Development Investment Fund (MDIF), hosted a webinar focused on Audience Engagement. The webinar, held on Friday, October 17, 2025, was designed to deepen participants’ understanding of audience-centered journalism and its role in media sustainability.

The webinar was a direct response to feedback received during a prior event—an in-person conference on Media Sustainability held on July 30–31, 2025, also jointly organized by the Daily Trust Foundation and MDIF. During that conference, participants expressed strong interest in a follow-up session that would explore practical strategies for engaging audiences more effectively.

Dara Ajala, MDIF’s Program Manager for West and East Africa, took participants through frameworks and tools aimed at aligning journalistic content with audience needs, emphasizing the importance of understanding audience goals beyond traditional demographics.

She also provided media professionals with actionable insights into audience mapping, value proposition development, and the “jobs-to-be-done” framework. Participants were encouraged to reflect on how their organizations could better serve specific communities and build sustainable engagement models.

There were 34 participants from the following organizations: Seismic Consulting Group, Daily Trust, Trust Radio, Arewa Updates, The Sun (Daily Sun), Plustv Africa, Lasilkiin Communications Limited, Crystal Express Newspaper, The Punch, Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, Prestige FM Minna, Radio Nigeria, Business Day, ALJAZIRAH NG, Garkuwa Radio, Katsina State Radio Service, DITV/Alheri Radio, The Nation newspaper, Daily Asset, Alfijir Radio, ViewerTV, and Trust TV.
